 Research & Development Project Manager

Job Description:

Responsible for leading and executing various research and development initiatives, ensuring the innovation, quality, safety and compliance of the products produced. This role will have a significant influence on new product development and process improvement. Must be able to work closely with the Sales team to develop strong relationships with the companys’ Food’s key customers by providing innovative solutions and timely technical support.
 
  • Ensure R&D projects meet established timelines
  • Investigate new ingredient, equipment and packaging technologies
  • Provide technical assistance to internal teams and customers
  • Support Sales team to create new business opportunities

Key Competencies:
 
  • Ability to oversee the entire process of creating meat products, from conceptualization to commercialization
  • Experience in ground meat processing, Blentech Versatherm cook and hot fill packaging systems and linear impingement cooking a plus
  • Ability to ensure products meet regulatory standards and compliance, food safety, labeling, and product quality requirements.
  • Perform product testing to confirm sensory, nutritional, and product functionality, ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Strong organizational abilities coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects including the creation of detailed reports, documentation and presentations highlighting project progress, findings, and share to all participating parties.
  • Ability to champion the R&D process fostering collaborations with external suppliers, vendors, and research partners to align with both the company’s’ and our customers' requirements. Effective communication with internal teams, suppliers, and customers is essential
  • Strong working knowledge of USDA FSIS operational practices and label regulations

Education & Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food or Meat Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in R&D
  • Culinary experience or training a plus
  • Approximately 20-30% domestic travel required

Physical Requirements:
 
  • Lifting: Ground to waist lift (occasionally) up to 50 lbs.
  • Carrying: Front carry (rarely) 25 foot carry up to 50 lbs.
