Senior Human Resource Manager


A Fortune 500 company is seeking a Human Resource Manager to oversee the HR Department and is directly responsible for the overall administration of the human resource function for its Home Warranty and Home Inspection divisions. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be extremely process oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and be trustworthy. This position reports directly to the CFO and is located in Concord, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities are

  • Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department; Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Responsible for the maintenance of department records and reports, organizational charts, and employee directory
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Supervises the staff of the human resource department
  • Special projects as assigned by the executive team


Employee Relations
  • Implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
  • Monitors employee relations counseling, disciplinary, and grievance issues
  • Consistently maintain favorable and effective relations among employees, accountable for motivating and stimulating supervisors and managers to ensure consistent, equal, and fair treatment of their employees
  • Counsels and advises the affected individuals on the use of the problem-solving procedure, which consists of a systematic approach to understanding, approaching, and solving employee/supervisor problems
  • Consults with the legal counsel as appropriate or as directed by the executive team, on personnel matters
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the organization

  • Implements and distributes corporate administered policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution support
  • Complete knowledge of corporate benefit programs and their application; act as benefits counselor to both management and employees
  • Attend seminars/education programs to stay current with employment laws, industry trends, and best practices
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws


  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt, and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements, works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates, conducts reference checking, and extends job offers
  • Coordinates new hire onboarding; conducts new-employee orientation


Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 8+ years of human resource experience
  • BA or BS in HR or related field
  • Knowledge of California employment law
  • Must be willing to complete a background check upon acceptance of employment
  • Ability to make sound judgments and keep confidential information
  • Willingness to learn HRIS system, company policies, and benefits, as well as their application in the day-to-day work environment


  • Master’ s degree in human resource management
  • PHR/SHRM-CP, SPHR/SHRM-SCP, or equivalent license(s)
  • Previous HR experience in a call center
