Division Accounting Manager

Full Time l Columbus, OH

This Company is an established family-owned ground beef manufacturing company with over 80 years of industry experience. This Company delivers ground beef solutions into foodservice and retail market channels. It operates three meat-processing facilities located in the United States.

Division Accounting Manager will report to our Corporate Controller with dotted line reporting to the Director of Operations in Columbus. Position is part of a staff that includes five other accountants who are primarily responsible for financial reporting relating to our other facilities, which are located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Norcross, Georgia.

Job Responsibilities Include
 
  • Weekly and monthly financial reporting for Columbus plant
  • Weekly and monthly reporting of results to major customer for the two production areas in Columbus and new (2020) production area that will be located in Norcross, Georgia.
  • Participate in the annual budget development process and the financial reporting of results vs. budget: Analyze variances
  • Maintain cost accounting system: Develop product costs for each item produced
  • Analyze financial results in order to provide information for production management and sales to facilitate decision making
  • Participate in daily plant management meetings
  • Work with Plant management on ad hoc projects to analyze/improve plant profitability
  • Reconcile perpetual inventory records for raw materials; finished goods; and packaging supplies on a weekly basis
  • Assign raw material costs to production on a daily basis
  • Manage the accounts payable process by ensuring that purchase orders are complete, timely and approved by appropriate levels of management. Ensure invoices are received, approved, and promptly entered into the system for payment in a timely manner. Supervise clerical staff performing many of the payables process functions.
  • Supervise staff performing employee’ s benefit administration functions.
  • General ledger account analysis and reconciliation for Columbus operation
  • Analyze Capital Expenditure Projects and maintain fixed asset records
  • Sales, use, and commercial activity tax reporting
  • Modest travel to our Kenosha, WI and Norcross, GA facilities when necessary.
  • Other Accounting duties as needed

 

Qualifications
 
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in public management accounting including management of support staff
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact at the highest levels of business
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn our financial reporting, production, sales, and inventory management data system known as Canopy
